Why connect Telegram to Shopify
Shopify powers D2C brands worldwide. A Telegram storefront on top of it reuses your catalog, inventory and fulfilment while giving customers a one-tap shop inside the chat where you already market to them. Without the integration, Telegram becomes a separate silo; with it, every chat, order or request lands on the right record, your team gets alerts where they already are, and customers get updates in the chat they actually read.
How the integration works
- Auth. Custom app with Admin API scopes (products, customers, orders) and Storefront API for the Mini App.
- Catalog. Products and inventory synced to the Mini App in real time; variants, collections and discounts respected.
- Checkout. Orders created via Admin API or Shopify checkout opened from the Mini App; Telegram Stars for digital items where required.
- Post-purchase. Webhooks on fulfilment and shipping send Telegram updates; abandoned checkouts trigger reminders.
Typical flows
- Channel post → Mini App product → checkout → order in Shopify
- Fulfilment → tracking link in Telegram
- Abandoned checkout → reminder with discount
- Reorder from the bot in one tap
Architecture
| Layer | What runs there |
|---|---|
| Telegram | Your bot (grammY or aiogram) and Mini App |
| Middleware | A small service on your cloud: auth with Shopify, mapping, dedupe, templates, retries, audit log |
| Shopify | Native objects and automations; no custom code inside beyond fields and triggers |
| Monitoring | Failed syncs alert your team in Telegram; daily reconciliation report |
Data and compliance
Telegram IDs, usernames and phone numbers are personal data. We capture consent in the bot or Mini App, support unsubscribe and deletion, and keep data in your Shopify region and your cloud region. A data flow document is provided for your DPO where GDPR, UK GDPR, PIPEDA, the Australian Privacy Act or regional laws apply.
