Why connect Telegram to Pipedrive

Pipedrive is the sales CRM of choice for small and mid-size B2B teams in the UK, the EU, the US and Canada. Its API is simple, webhooks are first-class, and custom fields make it easy to store Telegram identity on Persons. A Telegram bot or Mini App without the integration creates a second customer list that nobody maintains; with it, every Telegram interaction lands on the right record, managers get alerts where they already are, and customers get updates in the chat they actually read.

How the integration works

  1. Auth. Company API token for an internal integration or an OAuth app if you plan to publish on the Marketplace.
  2. Inbound. Persons upserted by Telegram ID or phone; Leads created in the Leads Inbox or Deals in a chosen pipeline; Notes and Activities logged.
  3. Outbound. Webhooks v2 on deal updates trigger templated Telegram messages; owners get a Telegram notification for new leads with a deep link to the deal.
  4. Operators. Replies from a Telegram operator group are logged as Notes; optional two-way inbox via our middleware.

Typical flows

  • New lead from the bot → Leads Inbox → owner alert in Telegram
  • Deal moves to “Proposal” → client receives the proposal link in Telegram
  • Activity due → reminder to the rep in Telegram
  • Won deal → onboarding sequence through the bot

Architecture

LayerWhat runs there
TelegramYour bot (grammY or aiogram) and Mini App; users never leave Telegram
MiddlewareA small service on your cloud (Node.js or Python): auth with Pipedrive, upserts, dedupe, templates, rate limits, retries, audit log
PipedriveNative objects and automations; no custom code inside Pipedrive beyond fields and triggers
MonitoringFailed syncs alert your team in a Telegram group; a daily reconciliation report catches drift

We keep business logic in the middleware so that Pipedrive upgrades, API version changes and bot changes do not break each other. The middleware ships with tests, an admin page for retries and documentation your developers can extend.

Telegram user IDs, usernames and phone numbers are personal data. The integration stores consent (captured in the bot or Mini App), supports unsubscribe commands, honors deletion requests by removing the Telegram identity from Pipedrive records, and keeps data in your Pipedrive region and your cloud region. For GDPR, UK GDPR, PIPEDA and the Australian Privacy Act we provide a data flow document for your DPO.

Telegram + Pipedrive: FAQ

Does Pipedrive have a native Telegram channel?
No. Messaging inbox integrations exist for WhatsApp and Facebook; Telegram requires a custom bot connection, which is what we build.
Can I keep using Pipedrive automations?
Yes. Automations and webhooks trigger our middleware; we do not replace your existing flows.
How is duplicate handling done?
Match on Telegram ID first, then phone or email; merges are flagged for review instead of done silently.
Cost?
$2,500–$3,500 for lead sync and alerts; $3,500–$6,000 with two-way messaging and activity logging.
