Why connect Telegram to Microsoft Dynamics 365
Dynamics 365 Sales and Customer Service are common in UK, EU and US enterprises and in Gulf public-sector-adjacent companies. Integration goes through Dataverse with Azure AD authentication, and Power Automate is the natural place for outbound triggers. A Telegram bot or Mini App without the integration creates a second customer list that nobody maintains; with it, every Telegram interaction lands on the right record, managers get alerts where they already are, and customers get updates in the chat they actually read.
How the integration works
- Auth. An Azure AD app registration with application permissions to Dataverse, secrets in Key Vault, environment-scoped.
- Inbound. Our middleware writes to Dataverse tables through the Web API: Leads or Contacts, Opportunities, Cases, plus a custom Telegram activity for history.
- Outbound. Power Automate flows (Dataverse triggers) call the middleware, which sends Telegram messages and writes delivery status back.
- Service. Agents handle Telegram as Cases; a custom channel in Omnichannel is possible for real-time chat.
Typical flows
- Lead from Mini App → Lead with assignment and Teams/Telegram owner alert
- Opportunity stage → client update in Telegram
- Case lifecycle with SLA notifications to the customer
- Approvals and internal alerts to Telegram groups
Architecture
| Layer | What runs there |
|---|---|
| Telegram | Your bot (grammY or aiogram) and Mini App; users never leave Telegram |
| Middleware | A small service on your cloud (Node.js or Python): auth with Microsoft Dynamics 365, upserts, dedupe, templates, rate limits, retries, audit log |
| Microsoft Dynamics 365 | Native objects and automations; no custom code inside Microsoft Dynamics 365 beyond fields and triggers |
| Monitoring | Failed syncs alert your team in a Telegram group; a daily reconciliation report catches drift |
We keep business logic in the middleware so that Microsoft Dynamics 365 upgrades, API version changes and bot changes do not break each other. The middleware ships with tests, an admin page for retries and documentation your developers can extend.
Data, consent and compliance
Telegram user IDs, usernames and phone numbers are personal data. The integration stores consent (captured in the bot or Mini App), supports unsubscribe commands, honors deletion requests by removing the Telegram identity from Microsoft Dynamics 365 records, and keeps data in your Microsoft Dynamics 365 region and your cloud region. For GDPR, UK GDPR, PIPEDA and the Australian Privacy Act we provide a data flow document for your DPO.
